Cheng-Ing Chia

Cheng-Ing Chia is a seasoned professional in data science and machine learning, currently serving as the Head of Data Science and Machine Learning at Instawork since April 2025. Previously, Cheng-Ing held the position of Director of ML & Data Infra and Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer at TaskRabbit from October 2021 to April 2025. Prior experience includes working as a Principal Data Scientist at Outdoorsy and Coupang, where notable achievements involved developing automated price comparison services, product matching models utilizing NLP and deep learning techniques, and implementing end-to-end data pipelines for product ranking and recommendations. Cheng-Ing also contributed to customer analytics and retention strategies at Coupang. Cheng-Ing began a career at IBM as a Data Scientist and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Duke University. Cheng-Ing obtained a Ph.D. in Computational Physics from Pennsylvania State University and a B.S. in Physics from National Tsing Hua University.
