The IRBLleida is a research institute that was founded as the result of a partnership between the Universitat de Lleida and Institut Català de la Salut. As a joint body between the University and the public healthsystem, the IRBLleida is committed to advancing biomedical research inorder to improve the average health of the population and to facilitate optimal healt care activity and coverage. The interaction between professionals from both institutions should createsynergies that facilitate this task.

 The research groups at IRBLleida originaly come from the Facultat de Medicina of UdL, the Hospital Universitari Arnau de Vilanova, the Hospital Universitari de Santa Maria and the Departament de Salut of the Generalitat de Catalunya at Lleida.

Their activities range from basic research to research in primary care and hospital care, including translational biomedical research.
