Institute for Advanced Studies in Complex Choices

We are a registered not-for-profit institute of higher learning founded with the purpose of advancing the science and practice of making choices in personal, organisational and policy context. Our education programmes aim to raise probability of success through context-appropriate choices and enhance critical thinking and reflective practice capability. Our research explores and explains how individuals and ‘individuals in a collective’ define purpose, generate ideas, make choices, allocate resources, implement decisions and realise their personal and shared purpose. We plan to invest to build an eco-system of organisations and professionals who share our purpose. Our Premises • Human action is “conduct directed by choices” in our natural and social context. • Ability and willingness to ‘take risk and deal with uncertainty’ determines human progress. • Shared ‘ideas sans ideology’ help build an equitable and just society. • ‘I ask therefore I am’, critical thinking and reflective practice is integral to our being. • Being “empty of worrying” liberates the mind. • Avoiding “the pretence of knowledge” helps build theories that explain. • “Social consciousness” helps achieve collective goals.
