Seemanti Ghosh

Seemanti is due to join IES as a Principal Research Fellow in September 2022. Her main research interests include human capital development, with a particular focus on the role of socioeconomic milieu on cognitive and noncognitive skills. Seemanti draws upon experience of working across academia and innovation agencies leading projects related to early years gap, human capital development and education both in the context of UK and international development.

Seemanti completed her PhD in Economics at the University of Glasgow, and has since led multiple projects that uses a range of quantitative methods, including randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies. She has direct experience of working in a policy environment in an innovation charity. She also has experience of collaborating with governments and working with policymakers in the international development context. Prior to her PhD, Seemanti started her career in the investment banking industry and worked there for five years as a risk specialist.
