L. Toni Lewis, MD, is a prominent health equity strategist and the founder and president of Liberation Health Strategies, established in 2018 to advance health equity on local, national, and global scales. Currently serving as a faculty member for the Pursuing Equity Learning and Action Network at IHI, Lewis aims to reduce health disparities through equitable health system strategies. As the executive and wellness coach for the Higher Heights Leadership Fund, Lewis leads initiatives to empower Black women in leadership. Co-founding Health Equity Cypher, Lewis advocates for vulnerable communities, particularly the Black community, through targeted public health strategies. Additional roles include co-chairing the Health Committee of the Global African Workers Institute and providing family and geriatric medicine consultation since 2008. Previously, Lewis served as president of the Public Policy and Education Fund of New York and held various leadership positions within SEIU. Lewis earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and holds two Bachelor's degrees in Sociology from Georgetown University.
