Assaf Orion is an experienced professional currently serving as Director of The Diane & Guilford Glazer Foundation - Israel-China Policy Center and Senior Research Fellow, Director of the Israel-China Program & Special Projects at INSS Israel since September 2015. Additionally, Assaf Orion holds the position of Liz & Mony Rueven International Fellow at The Washington Institute For Near East Policy since September 2019, after previously being a Visiting Research Fellow at the same institution in 2018. Prior military experience includes roles as Head of Strategic Planning for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from 2010 to 2015, Commanding Officer of the International Intelligence Cooperation Unit and Assistant Chief of Israel Defense Intelligence for International Cooperation from 2003 to 2006, and Commanding Officer of the Open Source Intelligence Center from 2001 to 2003. Assaf Orion's education encompasses a Master of Public Administration with a focus on National Security from Harvard Kennedy School, a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Tel Aviv University, and completion of a Directors and Corporate Officers course at Lahav Executive Education.
