Sophia Mauro

Sophia Mauro has a diverse work experience in communications and strategic communications. Sophia currently holds the position of Director of Strategic Communications at the Institute for Security and Technology (IST), where they previously served as the Deputy Director of Strategic Communications. Prior to joining IST, Sophia was a Fulbright Scholar at Sabancı University through The Turkish Fulbright Commission. Sophia has also worked as a Communications Research Intern at IST and a Communications Assistant at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. Sophia has interned at the U.S. Department of State's Global Public Affairs and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Technology. Sophia started their career as a Communications Intern at the Middle East Institute.

Sophia Mauro holds a Master of Arts degree in Turkish Studies from Sabanci University. Sophia also completed their Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) with a focus on Regional and Comparative Studies at Georgetown University. Prior to that, they studied Turkish Language and Literature at Azerbaijan State University of Languages.
