Sandy Buchanan

CEO at Institute of Energy Economics and Financial Analysis

Sandy Buchanan is IEEFA’s Chief Executive Officer, with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the organization. She has worked over 30 years on a variety of energy issues including coal, nuclear, utilities, renewables, and energy efficiency.

Prior to joining IEEFA in 2013, Sandy was the executive director of Ohio Citizen Action, a membership organization. Under her leadership, the organization played important roles in local, state, and national policy development, including the passage of toxic chemical right-to-know laws.

Sandy has served on the boards of the Environmental Working Group, the Ohio State Emergency Response Commission, and Neighborhood Family Practice, a federally-qualified health center. She received the 2013 Distinguished Alumna Award from Laurel School.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Cornell University.
