Greer Gilmer

Postdoctoral Research Fellow at GNS Science

Greer Gilmer is a highly experienced professional in the fields of geology and climate analysis, currently serving as a Whitinga Post Doctoral Fellow at GNS Science since June 2022. Previously, Greer held the position of Project Leader for the Winds of Change Programme at the University of Otago, where contributions spanned from November 2020 to June 2022, and completed a PhD at the University of Otago focusing on Southern Hemisphere westerly wind variability. Greer’s expertise includes analyzing sediment cores through geochemical and physical techniques. Early career roles include engineering geologist positions at Riley Consultants Ltd and Beca, as well as a Weed Control Ranger with the Department of Conservation. Greer holds a Master’s degree in Geology from the University of Canterbury.
