Robert Baumgartner is currently the Deputy Director and Senior Research Associate at the Acoustics Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, where responsibilities include overseeing the Hearing Cluster. Baumgartner has extensive experience in auditory research, having led projects on spectral cues in sound externalization and contributed to interdisciplinary cognitive science networks at Universität Wien. Previous positions include lecturer roles at Northeastern University and Boston University, as well as postdoctoral and research assistant positions at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Sound Engineering from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, along with Master's and Bachelor's degrees in the same field from Graz University of Technology.
