Located on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, IMM is a Laboratory Associated to the National Ministry of Science and Higher Education. IMM is mainly supported by national public funds and European Union funds. The research expenditure is also supported by funds obtained from peer reviewed competitive grants, private donations and industrial partnerships. The Academic Medical Centre of Lisbon created as a consortium, brings together IMM, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon and the Hospital de Santa Maria with the aim of developing an integrated view of medicine, encouraging a crosswise biomedical research both in academic laboratories and clinical practice.
