Johanna Andrea Martinez-Villa is an accomplished researcher and engineer with extensive experience in ecological studies and forest conservation. Currently serving as an Ingeniero de investigación at Instituto SINCHI since June 2023, Johanna focuses on statistical analyses of functional traits and diversity in tree communities within the Colombian Amazon. Previously, Johanna completed a PhD in Biology and Ecology at UQAM, where work involved examining beta diversity patterns in the northern Andes. With a strong background in project coordination and research from institutions such as the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Instituto de investigaciones biológicas Alexander Von Humboldt, Johanna has contributed significantly to functional characterization and ecological adaptations of tree species and has led initiatives aimed at sustainable development and biodiversity preservation. Educational credentials include a Master's in Forests and Environmental Conservation and a Bachelor's in Forest Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
