Matthew Buono's work experience begins in 2001 at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where they worked in management and excelled in sales, service, market share, and profit. In 2009, Buono worked as an Account Executive at Transworld Systems, where they created a personal marketing plan and excelled in prospecting, marketing strategies, and sales. From 2009-2015, they worked as a Chef at Maria's Pasta Shop. From 2011-2018, Buono worked at Central New York Services, Inc. as a Programs Supervisor and HUD Procurement Director, where they were responsible for forensic mental health discharge case management, Medicaid redesign, and permanent supportive housing supervision. In 2013-2014, Buono served as the Public Relations Coordinator for the Italian Heritage Club of the Mohawk Valley. From 2015-2018, they worked as a Student Ambassador and Professor Assistant at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where they helped acclimate current students to the online school environment and promoted the institution. In 2016, Buono became an Independent Business Owner at Beyond Consulting. In 2017, they worked as a Real Estate Agent at Weichert, Realtors. From 2018-2020, Buono served as the Director of IPA Operations at ICAN formerly KIDS ONEIDA INC. Currently, they are the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Integrated Community Alternatives Network (ICAN) and will soon transition to the role of Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).

Matthew Buono completed their High School education at Notre Dame High School Utica, NY. Matthew then obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from the University at Albany, SUNY. Matthew continued their education at The Chicago School, where they earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Forensic Psychology in 2011. Matthew Buono further pursued higher education at The Chicago School and successfully achieved a PhD in Psychology with a focus on Organizational Leadership in 2019.
