Jaffar Husain

Jaffar Husain has extensive work experience in IT and R&D systems. Jaffar currently serves as the Director of R&D Systems, IT at Intellia Therapeutics, Inc. In this role, they collaborate with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives and cascades functional strategy throughout the organization. Previously, Jaffar held the position of Associate Director and Senior Manager of R&D Systems, IT at Intellia Therapeutics, Inc., where they worked closely with business and IT stakeholders to deliver technology-oriented solutions aligned with the company's strategic direction.

Before joining Intellia Therapeutics, Inc., they worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb as the Manager of IT/Lab Automation and QA/QC Systems. Jaffar was responsible for planning and building the next generation lab informatics strategy, as well as managing the integration of lab automation systems with Biovia's Lab Execution System and SampleManager LIMS.

Prior to that, they worked at Gilead Sciences as a Senior Laboratory Informatics Consultant, where they managed the integration of vendor-based analytical instrumentation with the laboratory information management program.

Jaffar's earliest work experience was at Abbott, where they held various positions including IT Technical Leader, Validation Engineer and Systems Analyst, Software Validation Team Lead and System Administrator, and Systems Engineer. In these roles, they were responsible for application and operation management, software validation testing, implementing visual basic applications, and evaluating product design and manufacturing processes.

Jaffar Husain completed the Management Development Program at The Wharton School in 2020. Prior to that, they pursued business analysis at The George Washington University School of Business in 2011 and obtained certification in CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) from San Diego Global Knowledge University in 2010. Jaffar also received training in project management from the Project Management Training Institute (PMTI) in 2008 and studied database administration at Oracle University in 2006. Additionally, Jaffar Husain attained expertise in software validation from San Diego Global Knowledge University in 2004. Jaffar began their education journey by pursuing a degree in genetic engineering at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, which they completed in 1994. Earlier, they studied computer software engineering at the College of Lake County in 1996. Jaffar Husain recently obtained the Management Development Program certification from Wharton Executive Education in 2020.
