Jersson Placido PhD has extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology and bioprocess engineering. Jersson currently holds the position of Principal Scientist at Intellia Therapeutics, Inc., where they have been working since 2021. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Process Development Scientist at the same company.
Before joining Intellia Therapeutics, Inc., Jersson worked as a Biotechnology Consultant at Vedas Research and Innovation (Vedas CII) starting in 2017.
From 2016 to 2019, they worked as a Bioprocess and Nanotechnology Consultant at Swansea University. Jersson also held the position of Honorary Research Associate at Swansea University from 2015 to 2015.
In 2015, Jersson worked as a Biorefinery and Downstream Processing Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Southampton.
Jersson'sprevious experience includes working as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at Texas A&M University from 2011 to 2014, and as a Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology Consultant at Corporación Tecnnova in 2011.
Jersson's career started in 2008, when they worked as a Research Assistant and later as a Lecturer at Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Jersson also served as a Lecturer at Colegio Mayor de Antioquia in 2010.
Jersson Placido PhD earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Biological/Biosystems Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 2007. Jersson then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biotechnology from the same institution, completing it in 2011. Jersson furthered their education at Texas A&M University, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biological/Biosystems Engineering in 2014.
