Rene Cortes

Rene Cortes is a Transport Senior Specialist with over a decade of experience at the Inter-American Development Bank, focusing on the transport sector in Guatemala. Responsibilities include supervising the execution of operational programs related to road connectivity, transport logistics, urban transportation, aviation, road safety, and electromobility, as well as leading procurement and fiduciary arrangements. Prior roles include Director of Infrastructure at the National Planning Department DNP, where Rene managed a PPP program and coordinated significant investment budgets and policy documents. Experience also includes a consultancy with The World Bank, risk analysis at Bank of Montreal, and various positions at the National Planning Department and Colombian Railway Company. Rene Cortes holds advanced degrees in Mathematical Finance and Finance, alongside a Bachelor in Civil Engineering, and is currently pursuing further education at Harvard Kennedy School.
