Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (I.C.B.C.)
We are the world’s most academically rigorous case competition, and Canada’s oldest, largest and most prestigious undergraduate case competition. Since 1978, we have been challenging the best and brightest business students from across Canada and around the world. With eight competition streams – Accounting, Business Policy, Debate, Ethics, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, and Management Information Systems – and two competitive rounds of competition, we are proud to bring the world to Canada. So how does I.C.B.C. work? Unique among most other global competitions, I.C.B.C. is split in two rounds: Preliminary Round and Final Weekend. The Preliminary Round is a written case response designed to challenge competitors’ ability to write a quality business report. Over the course of 2-3 weeks in October, competitors will work in teams of 2 (3 for Business Policy) to prepare their response, with the Top 6 teams in each stream advancing to Final Weekend. Held in January at Smith School of Business at Queen’s University (in Kingston, Ontario, Canada), Final Weekend is an exhilarating 3-day event which balances fierce competition (in a 5.5-hour case presented to a panel of expert judges) with many opportunities to network and socialize with fellow competitors, volunteers, and corporate sponsors. As the premier case competition in Canada, competitors are challenged to meet the needs of the current business climate. Combining both a written and verbal deliverable, I.C.B.C. is unique and academically rigorous, welcoming only the best and brightest to Final Weekend. We are Canada’s oldest, largest and most prestigious undergraduate case competition. We are the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition.
