From 2011 until his retirement in 2017, Pete was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, where he championed the approval and construction of CPChem’s $6 billion petrochemicals project on the U.S. Gulf Coast. Previously, Pete served in a variety of executive posts at BASF Corporation, INEOS Nitriles, part of the INEOS Group, and BP. He began his career at Amoco Corporation in 1981. While Pete led CPChem, he chaired the Board of Directors of the American Chemistry Council and served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas. Pete Cella serves as a non-executive director for ClockSpring | NRI, Inter Pipeline, Saudi Aramco (Tadawul), and Frontdoor (NASDAQ). At Saudi Aramco, Pete chairs the risk and health, safety, and environmental committee and serves on the audit committee. For Frontdoor, Pete serves on the compensation and audit committees. Born in the Chicago, Illinois, area, Pete attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 1979 and earning a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University in 1981.
