Julian Haagsma

Automation & Software Team Lead at Interface Fluidics

Julian Haagsma has a diverse range of work experience, starting with their current position as a Senior Hardware Engineer at Interface Fluidics since 2018. Prior to that, they worked at Phase Advanced Sensor Systems Corp. as the Director of Product Development from 2014 to 2018, where they developed a data acquisition and analysis system for water systems. From 2012 to 2013, they were a Materials Engineer at BP Automation, conducting research and development on various materials. Julian also worked as an Engineer in Training/Contractor at Fiber-Werx in 2011, repairing a robotic arm and developing operating procedures for fiberglass molds. Julian began their career as an Engineer in Training at Global Spa Components in 2010. Before that, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Alberta from 2006 to 2010, focusing on hydrogen storage in thin films. Julian also gained experience as an Engineering Student at Argus Machine Co. Ltd. in 2005 and at Caledonian CAD/CAM in 2004, where they programmed various languages and editing tools.

Julian Haagsma completed a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Physics at the University of Alberta from 2002 to 2007. Julian then pursued higher education and obtained a Master's Degree in Materials Engineering from the same university from 2007 to 2011. In April 2018, they obtained the Professional Engineer (PEng) certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
