IPCC
Andreas Fischlin is a retired systems ecologist and Professor Emeritus at ETH Zurich, actively conducting research since August 2023. Fischlin serves as Vice-Chair of Working Group II for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) since 2015 and has a long-standing affiliation with ETH Zurich, where responsibilities included leading the Terrestrial Systems Ecology Group within the Department of Environmental Sciences. Prior contributions to climate policy include serving as the Swiss Delegate to UNFCCC from 1999 to 2014, where Fischlin played a significant role in the Paris Agreement negotiations. Formerly, Fischlin was a Coordinating Lead Author for two IPCC assessment reports and worked as a researcher and consultant at the Atlantic Forestry Centre and as a research associate at The University of British Columbia. Fischlin holds a PhD and Master's degree in Biology and Systems Theory from ETH Zurich, earned between 1968 and 1981.
