Barry was born in Miami and raised in the Florida Keys, before moving to Tallahassee. He began his hospitality career in 1994 at the Governors Club, a private city club in downtown Tallahassee. Working his way through the ranks, Barry was promoted to General Manager and held that position until 2007. Before joining Interlachen in August 2012, he held the position of Assistant General Manager with Riviera Country Club in Coral Gables, Florida. Barry is a Certified Club Manager (CCM) and continues to be active in the Club Managers Association of America.
