Jamie is from rural Wisconsin, and his interest in biology first took root while exploring the outdoors. Jamie pursued this passion as a biochemistry undergraduate student at the University of St. Thomas, before joining Dr. Alisa Wolberg at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his doctoral studies. At North Carolina, he studied the fundamental protein-protein interaction networks underlying blood coagulation. Jamie then moved to the Bay Area for a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Jim Wells at the University of California, San Francisco. In the Wells Lab, Jamie used proteomics and antibody discovery technologies to understand cardiovascular and immuno-oncology protein targets. Over the course of his career, Jamie has become increasingly motivated to translate basic discoveries into therapies to help patients.
Outside of the lab, Jamie spends time with his wife, Amy, and their two dogs, Minnie and Lenard. He also can often be found running, backpacking, and experimenting.
