Robert Thomas is the current President & CEO at Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute. Prior to this, they served as Vice President Engineering and Research at National Concrete Masonry Association from January 1999 to December 2008. In this role, they managed the engineering department as well as Research and Development Laboratory, including staff of engineers, laboratory technicians and support team. Robert was also responsible for all technical aspects of the Association, such as developing technical resources, influencing building codes and standards, industry research, committee activities, technical education, and budgets.
From January 1998 to December 1999, Robert served as Vice President Research at National Concrete Masonry Association. In this role, they managed the NCMA Research and Development Laboratory and assumed larger responsibilities related to association management, industry development, and external relationship building.
Prior to their role as Vice President Research, Robert served as Director of Research / Manager of Research and Development Laboratory at National Concrete Masonry Association from January 1990 to December 1998. In this role, they were responsible for managing the NCMA Research and Development Laboratory.
Before joining National Concrete Masonry Association, Robert Thomas worked as a Field Engineer at Martin K. Eby Construction Co., Inc. from January 1989 to December 1990.
