Jesper Venema has a diverse work experience in the field of statistics and data analytics. Jesper started as a Summer Employee at the Inter-American Development Bank in 1995. Jesper then worked as a Junior Statistician at Statistics Netherlands in 1998. Jesper served as an Expert on Labour Statistics at the United Nations - International Labour Organization from 1999 to 2005. Following this, they became the Chief of International Technical Assistance on Statistics at the European Commission / Andean Community - ANDESTAD, where they supervised and coordinated projects in the improvement and harmonization of official statistics. Since 2008, Jesper has been with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), starting as a Senior Statistician and currently holding the position of Head of Statistics and Data Analytics.
Jesper Venema holds a Masters of Science degree in Econometrics from Queen Mary University of London and a Masters degree in General Economics from the University of Groningen. In addition, they completed the Inspirational Leadership Program at IMD in 2018 and obtained a certification in Data Science: Machine Learning from HarvardX in 2020. Jesper also holds certifications in Teaching Data Science from the International Statistical Institute, Elearning Essentials: Instructional Design from LinkedIn, Motivating and Engaging Employees from LinkedIn, Leading at a Distance from LinkedIn, and is an IATA Certified Instructor from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
