Rabina Shrestha

Country Director, Nepal at International Alert

Rabina joined International Alert in 2011. She is a gender equality, justice, peacebuilding and rule of law expert, and has extensive experience working on human rights, transitional justice, media rights and rule of law in Nepal.

Rabina is an experienced researcher and has authored and co-authored numerous publications on access to justice, gender justice and human rights.

Prior to joining Alert, she served at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Nepal, initially as a Human Rights Officer for the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Nepal, and then as an Access to Justice Specialist for the Supreme Court of Nepal, overseeing the ‘Strengthening the Capacity’ of the NHRC programme and the Rule of Law programme respectively.

She holds a post graduate degree in Women Studies from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and a double LLM, one in Human Rights and Gender Justice from Purbanchal University, Nepal and second in Democratic Governance and Rule of Law from Ohio Northern University, USA.

She has been honoured with two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards on Rule of Law and Transitional Democracy from Ohio Northern University, USA.
