Heidi S.

Heidi S. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of data protection and privacy. Starting in 2000, they worked as an Associate Attorney at Cole, Raywid & Braverman LLP, specializing in privacy and intellectual property. Heidi then joined Sprint in 2003 as Senior Counsel/Director, where they focused on protecting customer data and managing litigation. In 2007, they became Of Counsel at DLA Piper, designing global data protection programs for various industries. From 2011 to 2012, Heidi served as Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, guiding clients on compliance with data protection laws. Heidi then moved to Thomson Reuters in 2013 as Vice President and Senior Privacy Officer, managing the global data protection program. In 2017, Heidi joined Leidos as Chief Privacy Officer, creating and implementing a global data protection compliance program. Heidi founded Data Protection by Design, LLC in 2022 and volunteered at the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation. In 2023, they became a Partner at Potomac Law Group, PLLC, where they provide counsel to clients in various industries. Heidi also serves as a member of the Diversity in Privacy Advisory Board at the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals. Heidi S. holds a B.A. in Political Science from McGill University. Heidi later pursued an LL.M program (completed all coursework but thesis) in Intellectual Property at The George Washington University Law School. Furthermore, they attended the University of Baltimore School of Law and obtained a J.D. degree. Additionally, Heidi has obtained several certifications related to information privacy from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals. Heidi became a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) in 2015, Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) in 2013, and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) in 2004.
