Patricia Wyrod has a diverse work experience that spans over several decades. Patricia is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Law School, where they bring their expertise in complex technology transactions and data privacy law to the International Transactions Clinic. Prior to this, Patricia was the Principal of Tech Law SF Group, a company they established in 2015. Tech Law SF Group provided legal guidance to venture-funded technology and digital media companies, with a focus on software, cyber, and digital media expertise, as well as data privacy. Patricia also obtained a CIPP-E certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals in 2018. Patricia served as a Board Advisor for OmniVirt VR for Mobile, where they advised the company on various operational matters during its start-up phase. Additionally, they worked as the General Counsel for ipsy, an e-commerce and social media marketing company, and played a crucial role in closing a significant financing round for the company. Patricia's experience also includes working as an Associate General Counsel at Silver Spring Networks, where they witnessed significant IPO and revenue growth in the IoT industry. Prior to that, they served as the Vice President of Legal for SPL WorldGroup Software, which was later acquired by Oracle Corporation. Patricia began their legal career as an Associate at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, focusing on international trade and business litigation, particularly EU client matters.
Patricia Wyrod has a JD degree in Law from the University of Michigan Law School. Patricia also holds a degree in Advanced studies in EU law from the College of Europe. Patricia obtained their B.A. with honors in English Literature and French Literature from the University of Michigan, where they were also a part of the Honors College. Additionally, they are a certified data privacy professional in EU data privacy, having completed the CIPP-E program at IAPP. In 2020, Patricia received a Certificate of Completion in Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
