Michele Leone

Michele Leone is a Senior Program Specialist at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) since September 2009, specializing in research program design and management in areas including innovation for sustainable development, climate change, and food systems. Previous roles include Senior Program Specialist and Senior Programme Officer, focusing on project selection and coordination related to climate adaptation, renewable energy, and sustainable urban development in developing countries. Michele's earlier experience includes teaching physics at Hillcrest International School and extensive research at the Institute for Scientific Interchange, where roles included Senior Research Scientist and Research Scientist, covering topics such as message passing algorithms and bioinformatics. Michele has contributed to renewable energy projects in developing countries as a Visiting Scientist and Lecturer at Malawi University and the University of La Havana. Educational achievements include a PhD in Statistical Physics and Complex Systems from the Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati di Trieste and a Laurea in Physics from Università degli Studi di Torino.
