Ariel Kestens has extensive experience in humanitarian and organizational development within the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) since May 2006, currently serving as the Head of the Country Cluster Support Team in Port of Spain and previously in various leadership roles including a.i. Head of Delegation for Venezuela, Head of the Country Office in Afghanistan, and Head of Learning, Education and Research. Kestens has a strong focus on developing competencies among volunteers and staff, enhancing organizational systems, and fostering a culture of learning and research across the organization. Educational qualifications include an MBA from IESE Business School, a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanitarian Diplomacy from the University of Malta, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Management and Public Policies, along with additional degrees in business administration and electromechanical engineering. Prior to joining IFRC, Kestens held various roles including Director General at Cruz Roja Argentina and has been actively involved as a volunteer in multiple capacities since 1986.
