Hosam Faysal currently serves as the Regional Head of the Health, Disasters, Climate & Crises (HDCC) Unit for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) since May 2019, overseeing operations and programs related to disaster risk management, health, and climate resilience in the MENA region. Previous roles at IFRC included Head of HDCC and Head of Disaster & Crisis Prevention, Response & Recovery, managing interdisciplinary teams and crisis operations. Prior experience includes serving as Syria Crisis Programme Manager at British Red Cross, where responsibility included strategic and operational management of Syria Crisis Programmes, and various positions within the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and Syrian Arab Red Crescent focused on disaster risk reduction and management. Hosam Faysal holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree obtained from Homs between 2001 and 2009.
