Arno Boersma

Arno Boersma is a seasoned professional focused on knowledge management and sustainable development, currently serving as a Knowledge Management Specialist for the Great Green Wall initiative at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) since September 2025. As a Founding Partner of Island Impact and co-founder of various organizations including Knowledge on a Mission and the Plastic-Free Islands Network, Boersma works to promote positive impact and innovative solutions for island communities and combat plastic pollution. Previous roles include a Knowledge Management Specialist at The World Bank and Director of the Centre of Excellence for Small Island Developing States at UNDP, demonstrating extensive experience in addressing global challenges related to poverty, sustainability, and environmental resilience. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Strategic Management from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
