Matteo Marchisio is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in international development and agricultural finance. Currently serving as the Head of the IFAD Regional Hub for the Sahel and Country Representative in Senegal since January 2011, Matteo leads efforts across several West African countries, promoting inclusive rural development, food security, and sustainable food systems. Previous roles include significant positions within IFAD in East Asia, China, and as a Country Program Manager for regions including Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. Additionally, Matteo's background includes expertise in climate change adaptation while with UNDP, as well as environmental specialization at The World Bank and UNDP. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree from The London School of Economics and participation in a High-Impact Leadership Program at the University of California, Berkeley.
