Ben Schreer

Ben Schreer serves as the Executive Director of the IISS-Europe Office since July 2021. Prior to this role, Ben held several academic and research positions including Professor of Strategic Studies and Head of the Department of Security Studies and Criminology at Macquarie University from August 2015 to July 2021, and Senior Analyst in Defence Strategy at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute from January 2013 to August 2015. Additional experience includes leadership roles at The Australian National University, Aspen Institute Germany, and the University of Konstanz, as well as research fellowship at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs. Ben completed a Ph.D. in Political Science at Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel in Germany from 1997 to 2001.
