Derek Bills

Derek Bills, CFA, currently serves as the Head and Chief Investment Officer at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) since November 1998, overseeing the management of the Investment Office and the investment activities of the IMF's Staff Retirement Plan and Retired Staff Benefits Investment Account. Previous roles at the IMF include Chief Operations Officer, Senior Investment Officer, and Investment/Senior Investment Systems Officer, with responsibilities spanning investment operations, portfolio rebalancing, and risk management. Prior to joining the IMF, Derek Bills worked as a Market Data Manager at Friedman, Billings, and Ramsey & Co. Inc., and as an Investment Systems Analyst at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Derek Bills holds a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Goucher College.
