Shirin Hamid

CIO at International Monetary Fund

Shirin Hamid is currently the CIO at the International Monetary Fund. Shirin has held previous positions at the International School Manila, Asian Development Bank, and UNDP.

Shirin has been working in the field of information technology for over 15 years. Shirin has extensive experience in leading and managing large teams of IT professionals, as well as in developing and implementing IT strategies, plans, and roadmaps. Shirin is well respected for their work in harmonization and collaboration across UN agencies.

Under their leadership, the IT function at UNDP has transformed the organization to be agile through the adoption of 100% web-based systems, cloud and mobile computing solutions. Shirin has also been instrumental in establishing impactful savings and partnership arrangements through global strategic sourcing, outsourcing and offshoring, managed services and complex licensing negotiations.

In recognition of their contributions and leadership, Shirin was honored by peers in the IT Profession as one of the 100 Premier Global IT Leaders in 2014, and received a commendation from the office of the UNDP's Administrator Office.

Shirin Hamid has a BS in Computer Science from Coventry University and an MSc in Business Systems Analysis & Design from City, University of London. Shirin also has a certification in Strategic Thinking and Management for Competitive Advantage from Wharton Executive Education.

They work with Sali Osman, NACD Fellow, CRISC, CISM, CISSP - Chief Security Officer, Jayesh Panchal - Global Chief Information Security Officer, and Margherita Bruni - Enterprise Architecture Chief. Shirin Hamid reports to Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director.
