Abdulwareth Alkasem

Abdulwareth Alkasem is a seasoned humanitarian access and security professional with extensive experience in crisis response and management. Currently serving as a Humanitarian Access Officer with IOM - UN Migration since July 2020, Abdulwareth specializes in fostering principled humanitarian access in Afghanistan and effectively engaging with various stakeholders, including de-facto authorities. Prior to this role, Abdulwareth facilitated humanitarian access for IOM's Cross Border Programme in Turkey, leading missions to Northwest Syria in the aftermath of the February 2023 earthquake. Abdulwareth's previous positions include Senior Programme Support Assistant and Senior Safety & Security Officer at Maram Foundation, where responsibilities encompassed security assessments and planning in Syria and Turkey, as well as prior roles in project management. Abdulwareth holds two bachelor's degrees in English Literature from Aleppo University and Gaziantep Üniversitesi.
