Berta Fernandez-Alfaro serves as the Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM - UN Migration) in Switzerland and Liechtenstein since November 2016, establishing key partnerships with the Swiss government and various stakeholders. Berta has extensive experience in migration policy and project management, including leading the EURCAP Facility project from 2016 to 2023, which supports EU partner countries in migration cooperation. Previous positions include Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta, Migration and Development Expert at WYG Group, and Coordinator of a Regional Project at the International Labour Organization focused on gender-sensitive labor migration policies. Berta holds a Master's degree in European Community Law from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and has studied International Law and Human Rights at the University of Valencia and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
