Philip Howard

Phil Howard is a distinguished academic and executive with extensive experience in governance, digital journalism, and public policy. Currently serving as President of the International Panel on the Information Environment since January 2024 and as Chief Executive Officer and Founder of PATTRN.AI since April 2021, Phil also holds a professorship at the University of Oxford. Phil's past roles include Academic Board Member at the Global Network Initiative, fellowships at Columbia University and Stanford University, and professorships at the University of Washington and the School of Public Policy at Central European University, where Phil was a founding professor. Phil's educational background includes a BA in Political Science from the University of Toronto, a PhD in Sociology from Northwestern University, and advanced studies at prestigious institutions such as LSE and INSEAD.
