Colin McIlreavy

Chief Safety & Security Officer at International Rescue Committee

Colin McIlreavy serves as the Chief Safety and Security Officer at the International Rescue Committee since July 2019, overseeing the safety of over 20,000 staff and volunteers across 40 countries. Prior to this, Colin held significant roles including Director of Technical Leadership and Director of Global Security at Democracy International, where governance and security programs were developed for countries such as Tunisia and South Sudan. Colin's extensive experience with Médecins Sans Frontières involved leadership as Head of Mission in various countries, overseeing medical strategies, security management, and program development. Additionally, Colin was an Adjunct Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and has contributed as a consultant in security and emergency preparedness for organizations like UNICEF. Colin holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University Belfast.
