Stuart MacAlpine has a diverse and extensive work experience. Stuart has held various roles in different organizations throughout their career.
Starting from 2011, Stuart worked at UWC South East Asia as the Director of Teaching and Learning until December 2019. During this time, they contributed to the development of the school's educational programs and strategies.
From 2018 to 2019, they also served as a Working Group Member for the Education 2030 Project at OECD - OCDE, where they collaborated on initiatives to improve education globally.
In 2019, Stuart joined Amala as a member of the Leadership Team and served as the Founding Director of Education. Stuart played a crucial role in developing the Sky School curriculum and overseeing its implementation.
In the same year, they also contributed to the Migrant Nation Project as a contributor at UNDP.
In 2019, Stuart also took on the role of Founding Principal at Green School New Zealand, where they established the first follower school for Green School Bali and developed the Green School Diploma.
In 2020, Stuart joined The LEGO Foundation, where they held multiple roles. Stuart served as the Senior Specialist in the Systemic Impact Team, the Director and Initiative Lead for Playful Schools, and finally, the Senior Director and Team Lead for Advisory Services for the Center for Playful Learning.
In 2021, they became a Board Member at the International School of Billund, contributing to the development and governance of the school.
Stuart's most recent appointment is as the Principal of Middle and High School at the International School Aberdeen, starting in 2023.
Stuart MacAlpine obtained a Doctorate degree in Conceptualisation of learning goals from the University of Cambridge, completing their education from 2023 to 2028.
