Martin Chalker has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Martin started their career as the Operations Director for ISS Facility Services UK, where they had the responsibility of running the "Key Accounts" and "Mainline" Business. Martin then moved on to work for Carillion as the Operations Director, overseeing the Southern Division, FM Property services, and National Accounts. After that, they joined Balfour Beatty Construction US as the Operations Director for Covion. Martin then worked as the General Manager for Kingston University, where they ensured the provision of services within the budget and negotiated changes to the strategic plan. Martin also served as the Director of Estate Services for the University of Sussex. Finally, they became the Chief Executive Officer of International Students House and International Students Trust and later served as the Chair of the Awards Committee for CUBO, where they reviewed award entries and shortlisted nominees.

International Students House (ISH) is a residential, social and cultural center for international and British students in central London. Together with our university partners and supporters, we provide scholarships opportunities, a safe home, and a social program to enable students to succeed while giving them a place to belong. We believe every young person should have the opportunity to succeed whatever their background. We provide accommodation if you need a place to live while you study, Scholarships and hardship funds to support your studies and social and cultural activities to foster an international community and help build better societies. Integral to our operations, are the facilities and services that support the organisation – One Park Crescent, 229 The Venue, our bars and restaurant.
