Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, PhD, has extensive experience in the field of telecommunications and international development, currently serving as the Elected Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau at the International Telecommunication Union since January 2001. Key responsibilities include managing ICT projects, strategic partnerships, and resource mobilization to support Member States, particularly in Least Developed Countries, Small Island Developing States, and Landlocked Developing Countries. Zavazava has also held several leadership roles within the ITU, focusing on project management, emergency telecommunications, and infrastructure development. Prior to joining the ITU, notable positions included Minister Counsellor at the Zimbabwe Permanent Mission to the United Nations and leadership roles within the Government of Zimbabwe. Academic qualifications include multiple advanced degrees in telecommunications, international relations, and business administration from prestigious institutions.
