Rodolfo leads the Water and Materials concepts on the Standard Development team, where he brings his experience in research, development and in the public sector. Before joining IWBI™ , Rodolfo worked in the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in the Bureau of Environmental Sciences and Engineering. He provided expertise in water safety and data analysis, participating in city-wide surveillance of Legionella bacteria and water quality. He collaborated in efforts to enforce, characterize and improve compliance with local and state regulations in drinking water (including lead in public schools) and cooling towers.
Before moving to NYC, he worked on bringing nanoparticle-based coatings from laboratory experiments to commercial products, in areas such as clean water, rechargeable batteries and corrosion protection. Beyond nanoparticle coatings, Rodolfo has performed research in topics as diverse as water purification, air pollution, chemical sensors, biofouling, microbial bioenergy and wine chemistry, coauthoring 15 peer-reviewed scientific papers.
Rodolfo holds an MS and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He obtained two Bachelor degrees at the Catholic University of Chile, one in Industrial and Chemical Engineering and a second in Aesthetics.
