John Morris

Principal, U.S. Internet Policy & Advocacy at Internet Society

John Morris is a seasoned expert in U.S. internet policy and advocacy, currently serving as Principal at the Internet Society since July 2022. Prior to this role, Morris was a Nonresident Fellow at The Brookings Institution, where John collaborated with colleagues to promote stronger consumer privacy laws in the United States. Morris's experience includes leading the Office of Policy Analysis & Development at the U.S. Department of Commerce's NTIA, serving as General Counsel at the Center for Democracy & Technology, and directing key projects addressing internet standards and broadband access. Additionally, Morris has a background in litigation, having worked at Jenner & Block, where John was involved in significant First Amendment cases, and has also served as a Staff Attorney at the Southern Center for Human Rights. Morris holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BA in American Politics and Constitutional History from Yale University.
