Paul Puryear has a diverse and extensive work experience in risk management and lending. Paul has held various positions in different companies throughout their career.
Starting in 1985, Paul worked as a Banking Associate at Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company. Paul then became a Banking Officer/Banking Associate in the Workout Group, handling corporate workouts for the bank. In 1989, they were promoted to become a Banking Officer in Asset Based Lending.
In 1989, Paul joined HellerFinancial, where they held multiple roles. Paul served as an SVP & VP in the Workout Group, overseeing workout operations. Paul later became an SVP Portfolio Manager in the Western Region and then transitioned to the role of SVP Internal Audit. Paul then became an EVP/SVP in the Asset Based Lending Group, managing portfolios. Lastly, they served as the Chief Risk Officer of the Small Business Administration Group, where they assisted in developing and instituting an Enterprise Risk Management framework.
In 2001, Paul joined GE Capital, where they had several roles over the years. Paul started as the SVP Workouts for the CFS Group and then became the SVP Bank Loan Group, creating and directing a risk team. Paul was also a Senior Risk Manager, analyzing and making recommendations for large transactions. Paul served as the Chief Risk Officer for Asset Based Lending in the Americas, managing a credit risk team and having significant credit authority. Paul then became the Chief Risk Officer for the Rail Services division, responsible for underwriting and portfolio management. Their last role in GE Capital was the Business Development Risk Leader, reviewing and approving risk data for the sale of the Rail and US Direct Leasing businesses.
Lastly, in 2016, Paul joined InterNex Capital as the Chief Risk Officer. InterNex Capital is a digital lender providing working capital financing to small and medium-sized businesses. As the Chief Risk Officer, Paul oversees the risk management strategies and operations of the company.
