Manuel Lima has extensive work experience in the fields of design and user experience. Manuel is currently the Global Head of Design at Interos Inc, where they oversee design initiatives. Prior to this, they were the Senior Director - Product Design at Interos Inc.
Before joining Interos Inc, Manuel worked as a Mentor for Google for Startups, where they provided guidance and mentorship on product, UX, and data visualization to startups working on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
Manuel spent a significant portion of their career at Google, where they held multiple leadership roles. Manuel served as the Head of Google Cloud Datavis, overseeing a multidisciplinary team and charting libraries, tools, and specifications across the company. Manuel also managed a UX team and multiple cloud products in the domains of storage, databases, IoT, and analytics. Additionally, they led and managed UX for monitoring tools and applications.
Manuel also worked as the Design Director at Codecademy, where they were responsible for overseeing UX design strategy and development, building a product design team, and defining user segmentation.
Prior to Codecademy, Manuel worked at Microsoft as a Senior UX Design Lead for Bing, where they oversaw the user experience across Bing's search engine results page and domain experiences.
Manuel has also contributed to the field through teaching roles at Parsons School of Design and writing a book titled "Visual Complexity: Mapping Patterns of Information." Manuel has also worked as a design consultant for various brands and experiences.
Earlier in their career, Manuel worked as a Senior UX Designer at Nokia, where they implemented consistent flows across online and mobile experiences. Manuel also worked at R/GA as an Interaction Designer, leading and conceptualizing projects for clients such as Subaru, Nokia, and Bacardi.
Throughout their career, Manuel Lima has demonstrated strong leadership skills and expertise in design and user experience.
Manuel Lima has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Industrial Design from the University of Lisbon, which they earned from 1998 to 2002. Manuel then pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design - The New School from 2003 to 2005.
