Robert J Mills PhD has over 20 years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Robert J started their career at GSK (formerly SmithKline Beecham) as a Plant Operations Manager, overseeing the R&D Pilot Plant Facilities. Robert J then joined Vicuron Pharmaceuticals as an Associate Director of Product Development, where they were responsible for drug substance and drug product supply management, process development, validation, and analytical development.

Afterward, Robert joined Pfizer (formerly Wyeth) as the Senior Director of New Products Process Development, leading the NPPD API Tech Ops team for late stage development compounds. Robert J also served as the Senior Director of Pharmaceutical External Supply API Technology Operations, leading the Global API Technical Operations Group. In this role, they were responsible for the technical oversight of all Wyeth APIs at CMOs, as well as second source activities and technology transfers.

Before their current position, Robert worked at API Development Services LLC as a Principal, providing consulting services in non-clinical CMC activities. Robert J was involved in pre-IND to Commercial Operations, including chemistry, analytical, pharm dev, CMO/CRO oversight, CMC regulatory, quality oversight, and project management.

Currently, Robert is working at Intrexon Corporation as the Vice President of CMC in the Human Therapeutics Division.

Robert J Mills, PhD, has a diverse education history in the field of chemistry. Robert J completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Newcastle University from 1976 to 1979. Robert J then pursued higher education at the University of Waterloo, where they obtained their PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from 1979 to 1984. Following this, they furthered their research at the University of Geneva from 1985 to 1986, where they completed a Post-Doctoral program specializing in Asymmetric Synthesis.
