Mason Umholtz

Mason Umholtz is an accomplished industrial designer with extensive experience in leading design teams and managing projects in diverse industries. Currently serving as the Lead Industrial Designer at Intuitive since September 2018, Mason oversees initiatives aimed at advancing robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. Previously, Mason worked as a Senior Industrial Designer at Smart Design, where strategic design and mentorship of junior staff were key responsibilities. Additional roles include Senior Industrial Designer at Streng and Industrial Design Manager at Wilton Brands, where Mason contributed to product design, engineering, and project management across various global brands. Early career experiences include industrial design roles at Infusion Design, working on consumer products and business class aircraft interiors. Mason holds a BFA in Industrial Design from The University of Kansas and has continued education at UNSW and California College of the Arts.
