Dixon Chibanda's work experience includes founding and serving as CEO of Friendship Bench Zimbabwe, where they provided vision and leadership while conducting rigorous research resulting in numerous peer-reviewed publications. Dixon also built the capacity of the local team and raised funds for the organization's sustainability and scale-up strategy. In addition, Chibanda held the role of Professor at the University of Zimbabwe and Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where they taught and supervised students, focused on task shifting in low-resourced settings, and conducted research. Dixon also directed the African Mental Health Research Initiative, overseeing activities across Africa and building networks with collaborating partners. Chibanda co-founded and served as Chief of Research at Inuka Coaching. Prior to these roles, they worked as a Medical Doctor and Consultant Psychiatrist.
Dixon Chibanda completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in public mental health at the University of Cape Town in 2015. Prior to that, they obtained their Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Zimbabwe in 2007.
