Louis Griffel has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Louis is currently serving as a Vice President of Clinical Development at Inventiva Pharma since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at PPD as an Executive Medical Director for Global Product Development from February 2015 to September 2022. In this role, they collaborated with sponsors to design and implement development programs, provided strategic direction and risk mitigation strategies, and had a deep understanding of clinical development.
Before joining PPD, Louis held the position of Senior Medical Director at Novartis Global Clinical Development from June 2009 to February 2015. At Schering-Plough Research Institute, they worked as a Director of Hepatology from June 2004 to June 2009, contributing to Hepatitis C drug development, conducting trials, analyzing safety data, and filing regulatory submissions.
Louis began their career as an Associate Medical Director at Purdue Pharma L.P. and later served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Louis Griffel obtained their MD degree in Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine, where they studied from 1986 to 1990. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at The Johns Hopkins University, earning a BA degree in Natural Sciences from 1982 to 1986. Before attending university, Griffel attended Stuyvesant High School from 1978 to 1982. Louis also holds several additional certifications, including being an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School since 2005, board certification in Gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine since 1995, and a medical license from the State of New Jersey since 1993.
